I have been a Lotus Notes Administrator/Support Tech for the past 10 years. My experience with Lotus products goes back to 1995 when I worked for Lotus in Cambridge, MA. After IBM took over, I left the company shortly thereafter. I had some trepidation at the time about the course that Lotus would follow under IBM's guidance. Frankly, I was not impressed with IBM's strategy for OS/2 at the time (and am still not) and had fears that Big Blue would kill the product over time. Well, the jury is still out on that one. WebSphere is the direction that IBM is taking Domino/Notes (DB2 backend rather than .NSF). I live in the Northeast and times have been tough here since 2003. I was luckier than many of my colleagues in that I was able to stay employed until a contract I had been on for 3 years ended in May of 2003. But, things are picking up again in the IT sector around here. As I have been getting many calls for contract work lately. And, friends who had been having a hard time finding work, are now employed. So, things are looking up again.
