My first full time computer related job was operating a Burroughs B700 in 1977. The first "personal computer" I ever saw was an IBM that cost about $5000 that a college teacher brought to class. As mainframe programmer wannabes, we were not impressed. We probably should have been. I got the degree but never got that programmer job because I didn't have any experience. Ironic how that works. Now I work more in servers, Windows OS, networking - switches, routers, hubs, wireless, firewalls, home networks.
