Started out doing Phone support for mail order PC companies, migrated to supporting industrial motherboard applications. I found out that I enjoyed people and software more than hardware, so found a community where I could get to know the people I supported as well as help identify and provide software that would enhance instead of impede my customers (now friends). I work with open source for its flexibility and cross platform support, but prefer web based applications as I'm constantly in the middle of the Unix, Mac, and PC religions. I prefer Unix, but (even with wine) can not get my favorite windows games ported over adequately. My experience with Windows started early on in high school with DOS, and migrated through the ranks of 3.11, 95, 98/NT, 2000, and finally XP. Once exposed to linux, I use it almost exclusively when the opportunity presents itself for web pages (site overhauls), e-mail (sending and receiving --No mail servers ), and networking (dns lookups, routing, and filtering). While I've been exposed to Macs since high school, I haven't taken the time until OS X to understand them further. I do some networking, a lot of phone support, consulting on system configuration and application usage, and also design departmental web sites. I also do some side work for neighbors and friends such as virus removal, router setup/configuration, consulting on new system purchases, and 'emergency oops recovery'.
