Topography is the study of the surface features of a region, object, etc.

*Typography* is the set of techniques for layout out type, graphic elements, etc.

If you take the time to read his post AlexPC, its not hard to understand hes asking "whats wrong with notepad for removing text formatting?" - same thing we've been doing for probably about 10 years, copy formatted text, paste in notepad, copy now unformatted text and paste to final destination. The extension may remove one step from this, but it seems rather unnecessary to some of us, and just an additional bloat. As for hard/soft EOL's, any decent editor can be configured to convert these on save, or manually trigger a check and convert

When 19 out of 20 slides are about type faces, it's hard not to think that someone at TechRepublic is not familiar with topography.

Editor's Note: As was pointed out in the thread to the blog post, "topography" was the intended usage by the author. Web designers sometimes use this more generic term to mean the "surface details" of a web site -- those elements that make up its "look and feel" -- not necessarily only the "typographical" elements. However, we did not anticipate that it would be such a bone of contention!
