Michael Dell isn't the first founder/CEO to leave his company and come back. Over the years, when the fortunes of the companies they founded headed south or maybe they just got a little bored, a number of former CEOs have elbowed their way back into the corner office.

Michael Dell (pictured here with AMD CEO Hector Ruiz at left) handed the CEO's job over to longtime company president Kevin Rollins in 2004. But Wednesday, after a terrible year in which Dell faced everything from a market share slide to a battery recall and an accounting scandal, Dell forced Rollins out and returned to the chief executive's office.
