Photos: Soiree raises funds to boost science breakthroughs

Google played host to the X Prize Foundation's Radical Benefit for Humanity charity auction at its Mountain View, Calif., headquarters on Saturday. The star-studded event--an effort to raise money for a dozen more innovation contests in the fields of energy, medicine and commercial spaceflight--was a sort of coming-out party to Bay Area investors, socialites and celebrities for the foundation. Attendees included actor Robin Williams, Tipper Gore, Virgin media mogul Richard Branson, and even Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.
