TweakVista: The Right Tool for the Job?

I'm so tired of this vista-bash-fest that's going on these days. I own three computers with various Windows Vista editions and all work famously.

Two things to consider:

- If you want the latest OS, buy the latest hardware. New stuff won't run on your old crap, and its only your fault if you try and fail.

- Application compatibility works the same way. The only applications that I can't run anymore are utilities (the cheapest software type) as they don't support the new user structures. Microsoft went out of their way to create filesystem links and compatibility settings that, if you bought recent enough software, you'd never need. - I can even run Office 2003 on my Vista box... Along with several 2002-era DirectX 8 games, old CorelDraw and Illustration programs. Not too shabby.

Don't call this junk just because you can't do one thing, or run something older than intended. Get real.

Maybe the "hip" thing is to bash Windows and push Mac (trendy) and Linux (ultra high tech chic). While I think the alternatives to Windows are all interesting, there's nothing out there that offers the experience or distribution of available software like Windows.

Do those of you that sit here and bash this stuff even use it? Or is it just the "popular" thing to do? I'm an IT director for a major enterprise in the US and I can tell you that the Vista/Office 2007 platform is the most user-friendly and stable platform I've ever used, and lines right up with what our user community is looking for based on support requests and issues.

The voices in my head says that Maurice said, "So don't be too critical of Vists or anyones product until you can build, market and maintain a better product."

I agree with so much of what you say, I won't list them. Though I may caution about the above state comment. Though true to some degree...but I may not have the skills to make a ceaser salad dressing with raw eggs, parmesian and anchovies, to know it tastes like fish.

There is room for the 'true appreciation' (or lack of)of something that one can do oneself; yet there is room for critical analysis, scrutiny [sp?] and opinion. I would just suggest that it is ballanced with consideration of the other possibilities...

All the OS bite, they just bite in different ways and work in different ways too. Eventully we will (or our grandchildren will) realize that we were doing the 'computing' and 'artificial inteligence' thing all wrong.

So what...really...I can't even get my brain to work without rebooting it every 18 hours and plenty of mid day defrags. ; )

You claim that a tool you have to give value for is
somehow "worthless", while a tool which you don't have to
give value for is more "worthwhile".

You're kind of turned around backward, friend.

It's usually exactly the opposite in the real world. The
more we pay for something, supposedly the more worth it
has. Yet you say the opposite, that it somehow has less
worth because its owner paid for it, implying that objects
of ownership are only worth anything if we get them for
"free." This is obviously ridiculous, as you will see if you
carefully examine what you have written.

said (or implied). But I am simply quoting what you said
and bringing your words to their logical conclusion.

Also, you ramble all around, never come to any
conclusion, and generally put the English language to
extreme abuse.

You would certainly reconsider your opinion, if you took a
few classes at your local Community College, and
discovered the real world.

Also, are you claiming that I am "digging my own grave",
or that Microsoft is "digging its own grave"?
