An X-47B Unmanned Combat Air System (UCAS) demonstrator gets ready on November 29, 2012, for an on-land take-off from a catapult -- the same sort of system that sometime in 2013 will launch it from a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier and into the history books. That occasion will mark the first time a pilotless aircraft will have taken off from a carrier, and landed there as well.
