A list of five handy apps for the Microsoft Surface

Toolbox for Windows 8 - 2

I will be the first to admit that none of the tools by themselves are anything that would warrant Toolbox for Windows 7 being included on this list. However, there are two reasons why I chose to include this utility.

The first reason is because the tools themselves are useful, and Toolbox for Windows 8 includes a nice variety of tools.

The other reason is because you can have up to six tools displayed on the screen at a time. This gives you the ability to lay out your screen similarly to the way that you might in a Windows 7 environment. For example, you can have a Web page, Facebook, a clock, and the weather all displayed on screen at once.

The title of this 'Article?' indicates that it is a list. It says nothing about 'Slide Show', or Multi-Media Presentation. 'Slide Shows' severely discriminate against ADHD / dyslectic people. Please take this into account when presenting articles. A prominent link to 'View as one page' option would be more user-friendly. Actually, your best option would be to use the 'View as one page' option as the primary, with the link to the Slide Show, for those that prefer that format.

I am surprised that Microsoft allowed this application into the "Windows Store" being that it has "Metro" in its title. Microsoft and Windows Store applications are restricted from using "Metro" in any way or form.

"This photo gallery is also available as a post in the TechRepublic Five Apps Blog." It's a link. Click on it. I hate the slide show format too.
