I'm trying to locate the "voltage regulator". I'm having power issues and have narrowed down the possibilities to a couple this but the voltage regulator is my prime suspect. Once I can locate it, I can use a volt-o-meter to determine if it is in fact in need of replacement. Any idea how many volts are suppose to be running through it? Any idea if this part is even replaceable?? Any help is much appreciated.
Thank U Thank U Finally worked out how to remove casing after undoing screws. 4 Niggly bits on batery needed popping from back of the casing.
Very enlightening photo gallery and explanations. This gives me more courage to repair my own laptop, I previously stuck to repairing only my PCs. Thank you very much for taking the time out to post this info.
One of the things I would have liked to see - more inf on what screws were where during the dismantling process.
...but an inverter (the typical cause of this issue on V2000s) is about $10 and a half-hour of work.
Greetings, get the manual of your laptop. I got the pdf manual of a HP C758LA and it show every piece of the laptop, the codes to ask for replacement too.
If you can see the screen that well, the issue may be in the LCD itself. Check that the connector is properly seated (remove and reseat if necessary), and if it still does that...well, it's probably best that you bought that new one.
When I turn the computer on the screen is brightly lit but it is all white. Does that mean that the inverter is working?
...the component that powers the LCD's backlight (which runs on AC, unlike the rest of the laptop's DC power). The cheapest (and arguably best) place to get one is on ebay, and a good installation guide is available at http://www.screentekinc.com/lcd-removal-instructions_en,compaq,inst.shtml
