Cracking Open the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx

Cracking Open Droid Razr Maxx: Hardware specs

Like the first Droid Razr, our Razr Maxx test unit has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 16GB of storage, 8MP rear-facing camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, and 4.3" Super AMOLED display (960x540 pixels).

It's essentially the same phone with a larger battery, which makes the phone slightly thicker and heavier. The Droid Razr Maxx measures 5.15" (H) x 2.71" (W) x 0.35" (D). It weighs 5.11 ounces.

I saw the battery flex cable has 2 screw in contacts but what are the two contacts, in the middle, do they hold a charge is it possible the screw on contacts are the discharge contacts and the center two are the charging contacts? With some experimentation I've come to believe they are 2 charge and 2 discharge.. Any one verify that? Great job on the tear down

Hi Bill, What size is the first screw in the second photo? The smallest torx bit I have is a T4 but it still appears to be too large. Thanks for your help, Rick

Bill, Superb job as always. One suggestion. When photographing small pieces such as the cameras you removed, could you please put a ruler beside the piece so we get an idea of the actual size? Thank you.
