iInventory computer tracking software: The Right Tool for the Job?

Software count

From a licensing perspective, keeping track of the number of installations is critical. This software report scans the registry for installed software and displays the number of instances found in your scanned assets.

You can also use file-matching to determine the software that is installed on a machine. For example, if iInventory finds "Word.exe" it will assume that Word.exe is the Microsoft Word executable and increment the license count for that software.

Speaking of which, you can also tell iInventory how many licenses you own for a particular product and let it do the compliance checking for you.

The installer doesn't seem to like Vista. It said I needed to have MSDC or something like that installed and it fails to register a DLL it installs and the installation never continues.
