You can easily add applications to the DEP exception list

Fortunately, this is not a show stopper as you can add applications to the DEP exception list. To do so, just access the Data Execution Prevention tab and click the Add button towards the bottom of the dialog box. When you do so, you'll see an Open dialog box, like the one above, and can locate and select the application's executable file.

Of course, Microsoft recommends that you contact the application vendor to determine if a DEP-compatible update is available. Microsoft then goes on to say that installing such an update is the preferred solution for DEP compatibility issues.
