In Europe we pay EUR 324.99 which at the current rate is about $ 442. Sorry Lego, no sale.

I used this at my school, and it's a fun toy. The user interface is a little spartan and unintuitive.

You can purchase it easily from any good toy store or amazon... just be careful with amazon... if it is higher than $400 they are trying to rip you of... (e.g. original NXT which is outdated is trying to be sold for $900!!!!)

I had the original one, but is now useless as Lego would not support Windows XP. They expected me to pay out for a new set. Wonder how long this one will be supported?

I remember when i got my RIS kit... the box said that it didn't support XP, but I pestered them about it and they sent me a XP disk. If you want I could upload an ISO file and send you the link.

I currently own two of the NXT models, and the older software that came with the original units. I have it installed on Windows XP and Vista. No problems. There are so many resources available, its surprising you werent able to locate support. You can try the FLL http://www.usfirst.org/default.aspx plus there are numerous texts available that can assist with whatever issues you are having.
