I live in Las Vegas but I was at the Classic Gaming Expo which was running at the same time. I had a great time at the Expo, but I wish I could have gone to the Star Trek Convention too. Maybe next year.
Unfortunately Creation Cons are pure commercial. You pays you money, and you pays your money, and you pays your money. The fan-run conventions are a lot more fun and you often get a star or two.
The *real* conventions are fan run. I prefer those. They have heart, consist of panels such as: The Psychology of Star Ship Captains $3xual diversity in the Federation Etc etc. In other words, panels on very geeky subjects which obsessed fans can debate :P
There is no Psychology involved. I liked Star Trek... a lot, but it's just a show! Get outside under the sun (here on earth) and live a little!
My point was that in making choices as to which convention to attend, find one put on by fans rather than professionals. You're more likely to come away with your geek satisfied.
Everytime I see one of these ST conventions, it reminds me of the movie Galaxy Quest. By Grapthar's Hammer, it makes me laugh every time :-)
is involved in everything people do. Which includes writing, filming, watching Star Trek, attending ST conventions, costuming up for that attendance...
Pic 55 - Everyone's a Vulcan except ... bottom of picture center.. a Left Handed Salute ... its like havin' a bushel of apples ... there's bound to be one bad or soured or sauced or slimey one ... a left handed salute? where do these people come from!? :)
They made Quinto do a right handed salute and he's left handed. I understand him having to do it since the character had been established as right handed, but All vulcans? There should be enough diversity in the population for this to be possible. LOL, yes I am a Star Trek GEEK and I don't care what anyone thinks.
... It's a Friday and I enjoyed this 5 minute break. It's a choice, not a requirement that you open it. If it wasn't for Star Trek, the IT world would be completely different and I would bet less advanced. It's the dreams that foster the reality.
What's it all doom and gloom in your IT world? Star Trek has been considered the defacto standard for all of geekdom since before time was time. While maybe not a headliner there's certainly nothing wrong with getting in a little trek while you have the time to relax, and if you don't have the time, then you probably need to relax even more.
Droxine of Ardana. From 'The Cloud Minders'. Image 41, Nona. From 'A Private Little War'. And doesn't Tim Russ just look thrilled to be there? :D I'm having to look up episode titles... Phoo, not a Trekkie. :0
A Vulcan in a Sciences Blue Original Series Tunic and a Female wearing the "male" Command Gold Tunic from the Original Series. Original Star Trek series literally used the colour of the tunic to denote which segment of the force you were in. Gold for Command Blue for Sciences [ Medical included. ] Red for Security Scotty's Red was a slightly different shade, supposedly, to denote Engineering.
