The first two steps in the wizard
Clicking the button brings up a UAC. Once you work through the UAC, the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, which runs in a wizard interface, immediately goes to work checking you applications and devices. As you can see, on my test system, 15 apps and devices are compatible with Windows 8 and that are 11 items for me to review.
