Hi This will not work on my Win 7 Ultimate Genuine machine. Just said sorry Asus P5 3.2 cpu 512 Gra card . Regards John
don't forget that any UPGRADE technically VOIDs your previous OS and its registration keys ... as you are required to disclose your product key to get the upgrade , don't be surprised if you try to go back to the old OS you may find your original product keys will eventually be invalid.
I bought a Toshiba laptop in August, registered for the upgrade and on 26th October an e-mail from MS with a key to download he upgrade. The process worked exactly as described here. The upgrade advisor did not want anything to do with the loads of Toshiba stuff as expected. I have the iso file now burned to a DVD, but what is it? 43 bit? 64 bit? Upgrades which earlier versions of windows? For the moment I am not hurrying to do the upgrade.
I can't see passing up such an offer -- EVEN if I am resolved on NOT using the product. Fifteen dollars for an authentic OS is a deal I can't ignore; especially as it avoids sending MS the typical Hundred-Fifty dollars they usually want.
Upgraded for 14.99 After using the consumer and release previews, I am pretty used to it Windows 7 feels old now Hoping my work upgrades shortly
Have been finding windows 8 a challenge willing to learn it might be able to help some one never know. Programs are called apps no more programs they install in upper right hand corner with click or tap what ever your monitor is, using mouse not bad. Have to give it a chance sure you will be a happy camper
Well I got a new laptop using my air miles and registered it online by only stating where I got it and the date, got an email from Arvato Digital Services on the 26th of Oct paid for it with paypal, then got an email from microsoft with key and link to the download, simple. mind I'm in Canada so prcedure might be diferent here.
The update process listed works fine. After playing with 8 for a couple of days I find that having to go back and forth between desktop and start page a bit tedious. I am able to work the corner and key short cuts no problem but teaching my wife and daughter is frustrating them. We have large external drives connected to our computers and have observed that with that configuration has caused a longer boot period. I like the 7 app for Skydrive than the 8 app. I don't see our work moving to it any time in the future.
I tried it. Installed/updated over my current Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit OS. I hated the fact that everything useful is now hidden and you have to search for the START button, etc. I suppose it's like everything else...there is a learning curves. But I kind of like the way Windows 7 is operating and have no beef against it. After the upgrade my wireless and ethernet connections were completely out of whack. And it took me a fair amount of time to correct for the issue(s). At the end of the day, I simply uninstalled Windows 8 and re-installed Windows 7. I did not see any appreciable performance from the Windows 8 OS , in fact, as noted above, I had issues. Of course a completely new install may have had a much different outcome. But I was not willing to re-install every program I am now currently running.
but I have my doubts about how well this OS can hack cable ready systems. The DRM alone caused me no end of headaches, and finally, now I have a pretty stable system. I'm not too interested in going through another 3 years of nightmare that is pre SP2 Windows.
an upgrade from 7 to 8 i believe. I personally am in no hurry to turn to 8, i'm quite comfortable with win7. Unless you're looking for a touch tablet, i don't see the point. I'll just hang tight til they release win9.
