TechRepublic's camera phone challenge: Holiday lights

Koping, Sweden

Over the holiday season, we challenged the TechRepublic community to submit camera phone photos of holiday lights. The winning photo was taken by TR member simpsonjon with a T-Mobile G1, looking through a kitchen window in Koping, Sweden.

I think you should rotate the first, winning image, clockwise ninty degrees so the snow is on the ground and the trees are growing from it... Come on Sonja, pay attention.

I fixed it, but I have to confess that I wouldn't have noticed without reading your comment. My favorite saying over the past few days is that my brain is still working in 2010 mode! That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it. ;)

Very nice, but what makes the Koping photo a winner? Is it harder to get a decent picture with a T-mobile G1 phone? The composition didn't have that much in its favor.

As far as holiday lights is concerned, it was one of the simpler photos - but it was very clear, while the others were a bit fuzzy. As a side note, I contacted all of the people who sent in photos this time around. Since there were so few entries, they all will receive swag. :)

Everyone must have been too busy to get pics in for this one eh? I love holiday lights but was too busy myself to get around and see them. These are nice shots. I anxiously await the next challenge since I now own a smartphone with a 5 megapixel camera. Yay!
