Douglas is well-known for its perfume and make-up stores, but there is more to the brand than that. The network is the biggest challenge that Douglas Informatik & Service GmbH (DIS) has to tackle each day, and which it consistently overcomes with great success. The network, with all of its external connections to around 2,000 stores, is an important component in ensuring the successful day-to-day functioning of the Douglas Group. On 3Com's recommendation, service provider and longstanding 3Com partner Stemmer GmbH from Olching, Germany, was brought on board as a link between 3Com and the various places of deployment in the companies. Together with Stemmer GmbH, DIS devised its concept for the Douglas Group's new network over the course of a 2-day workshop.
