Chartered accountancy and solicitor group Oury Clark required a multiserver off-site disaster recovery solution that could measure up to stringent data security standards. After initial assessment, Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Direct Communications Software Limited (DCSL) reached the conclusion that virtualization solution is the best option to ascertain a secure network with improved disaster recovery without increasing expenses. Subsequently, DCSL deployed Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V virtualization technology. Two leased lines were installed to connect the sites together and a fast network was created. A number of access rights and security walls between each office to keep data secure. Hyper-V virtualization software was created to produce a virtual mirror of the six servers at each site. Slough office is now used as the remote disaster recovery centre for London, and the London office as the recovery centre for Slough. After that Oury Clark has saved ?20,000 because the group has not had to buy additional physical servers and produced a flexible disaster recovery solution that can recover lost data within 10 minutes. It has also improved network resilience as now DCSL can fix a new server within one hour at either office, so that Oury Clark can expand to meet its clients' needs. It has increased teamwork as employees can log on to the network from any site and easily access the shared drive
