Acer wanted to eliminate the need for staff to manually enter material codes when new orders are sent from regional offices, and having to stand by for 4 to 12 hours after work to address any issues and support an increase in workloads and workflow complexity following mergers with Gateway and Packard Bell. The challenge was to implement a product lifecycle management system to automate and streamline product design and project management and establish global encoding rules and formats and ensure they correspond with those in other enterprise level applications. Acer selected Oracle's Agile PLM for its flexibility and performance and managed up to 300 major and minor design projects each year.
