A tier-1 global FMCG supplier, which has factories and operations in almost every country in the world, wanted to enhance their legacy and enterprise business system. They also wanted to improve the ability to plan and manage the supply chain process. Simultaneously, the FMCG firm wanted to automate a number of their existing manual processes, while upgrading their aging legacy ERP system. Towards this end, the key goals of the company were to improve response time, to secure intellectual property and to improve collaboration within the organization. The entities served by this solution would include many suppliers and retail units worldwide. Other challenges the company faced included creating operational efficiency while reducing costs; and the problem of facilitating heavy multi-site data exchange across countries and business partners. Therefore, Mahindra Satyam was brought in to play a role in L1 & L2 production support/application development; L3 product enhancement and code fixes; EAI assessment of application server performance issues; and enhanced cyclone SAP integration/interfaces for change management processes. Mahindra Satyam had to also work towards a B2B gateway and integration solution, upgraded application infrastructure alongside cross-functional teams, implementation of EDI migration from Cyclone 4.x system to Cyclone 5 Platform. The advantages with Mahindra Satyam were that the client's system became accessible from multiple locations and a centralized repository for EDI data cut down any duplication in transactional messages. The solution also enhanced cross-functional collaboration and suppliers were able to create a unified B2B Integration process across the company.
