Executive Summary

Broward County Sheriff's Department (BSO), the nation's largest county law enforcement agency, employs more than 6,000 law enforcement, fire, paramedic, and emergency workers serving Broward County as a whole and, on a contract basis, 14 towns and cities, the seaport, airport, and courthouse security. It needed to produce accurate and timely bills for thousands of revenue-producing assignments - replacing a manual process based on triplicate forms that required significant administration and provided limited visibility and streamline and automate payroll processes to ensure that officers are accurately compensated for their work on special assignments. BSO utilized Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise applications to automate management of the billing and payroll functions associated with thousands of contract assignments.
