Executive Summary

This paper is a case study by Torry Harris on how Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has been applied successfully for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI). The organization required a web based portal that would act as a one-stop show for verification of credentials and granting permits for all potential investors, with multi-channel access and integration support with external agencies and internal departments. An electronic payment mechanism to process and confirm payments was also required. As the amount of interoperability required was immense, the project warranted the use of a SOA based approach. This paper discusses the means by which the website was actualized and the solutions offered in this case by a SOA based approach.
