CCSU Boosts Oracle Database Availability to 99.85%, Cuts Data Center Costs With NetApp

Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) is one of four campuses in the Connecticut State University system. CCSU challenge is to meet growing needs for storage and streamline data protection, while minimizing staff size, storage expenses, and data center footprint. CCSU chose NetApp to overcome these challenges, virtualize IT infrastructure using VMware and NetApp to streamline provisioning and reduce backup and restore times. The achieved benefits were boost availability of Oracle Database to 99.85%, increase storage allocations by up to 100X, avoid buying 36TB of storage through deduplication and thin provisioning, manage 90TB of storage with two FTEs, reduce time to recover single mailbox by 94%, respond 67% faster to major Freedom of Information Act request and reduce staff time to support backup by 75%.
