Central Board of Excise and Customs Achieves Greater Efficiency With an Integrated Nationwide IT Infrastructure Provided by TCS

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) is the government agency responsible for the collection of excise, import and export duty in India. The CBEC required a consolidated IT infrastructure to link its offices spread geographically over different parts of India; the agency also needed to set up a help desk to assist the internal CBEC users with the resolution of issues related to different taxation applications and IT infrastructure. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was chosen to provide the necessary support, and has delivered the solution effectively. TCS designed and set up a data center as well as a data recovery center. This resulted in consolidated IT infrastructure across geographies and enables CBEC to examine tax compliance from various perspectives of governance.
