College Cuts Software Deployment Rate by 90 Per Cent With Server Management Tool

Mentioned in this case study is Hertford Regional College that required a new server management tool for its new technology-centered campus. The IT department of this college deployed Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 for its operating systems. This paper talks about the solution used by the college that was built with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit. It used pre-templated design papers, an organized project-based approach, and trained consultants to modernize the way desktop devices and applications are organized and updated. This solution gave the college one image of all applications and computers used on all machines throughout the campus. This paper discusses all benefits and features of this solution that is designed to manage servers in the campus. It maximized the use of resources available on the campus with the college being capable of better meeting testing board requirements. All computers are added into System Center Configuration Manager of the solution making them all set for use. This solution discussed in the paper was a way to cut software deployment rate by 90 percent to meet changes requested by staff and testing board. It provides college with flexibility to arrange exam software or wipe the machines clean as per the requirement. With the use of Server Management Tools, the college can organize various applications remotely.
