The challenge was to continue to cut operating overheads for the entire technology stack while reducing power consumption and cutting carbon footprint and process an anticipated US$50 million from Red Nose day 2009. Comic Relief pursued strategy of leveraging technology advances to increase transaction speed, improve service to donors, drive innovation, and cut IT costs by upgrading to Oracle Database 11g as well as processed 100% of donations received during Red Nose Day and sport relief live events using Oracle's virtualized, grid-based infrastructure.
