In the case of Corebridge, the company needed less support for software development because of its highly trained in-house developers, who have a great deal of experience working with the technology. Corebridge was looking for support in reaching the executives within Microsoft who could help establish a truly global partnership between Office Communications Server and the startup's technology. Instead of open source, the company chose Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 and went on to incorporate developer tools such as Microsoft ASP.NET, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
