Executive Summary

The National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit) is a government mortgage company with offices throughout Mexico. Almost half of the company's 4,000 employees are based in 80 remote offices. Regular communication and collaboration was difficult for employees and customers because the Infonavit e-mail messaging and telephony environments were not integrated. As a result, productivity suffered. In late 2007, Infonavit deployed Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. By January 2009, the company had deployed the solution's voice features to more than 2,000 employees. Infonavit workers now have streamlined communications tools that integrate with the existing infrastructure. Infonavit expects the solution to save employees 30 minutes a day and help the company issue 30,000 additional loans annually with the same number of employees.
