Computacenter wanted to find a way to deliver world-class availability and security for Linux environments at a competitive price-point. IBM helped Computacenter deploy an IBM Enterprise Linux Server (ELS) at its Hatfield Solution Centre. As a result the ELS can host thousands of virtual Linux environments within a single physical footprint - improving energy efficiency by up to 90 percent and supporting Green IT objectives. Powerful IBM Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) processors reduces the cost of per-processor licensed software (such as Oracle) by up to 97 percent. IBM z/VM enables new Linux environments to be provisioned in minutes with no need to procure new hardware, increasing enterprise agility.
