The Illinois Department of Public Aid, Bureau of Fiscal Operations, Drug Rebate Department needed to develop a Document Imaging, Conversion, and Management System prototype that would allow them to move from a paper to an electronic environment. The system would have to give them the capabilities to scan the documents, capture required data via Optical Character Recognition (OCR). The captured data would have to be linked into a Microsoft Access Database. The task of designing, developing, and implementing the document imaging, data capture, and workflow system was accomplished using IDEAL's COTS product called ScanDex. IDEAL used ScanDex Pro for the document imaging, indexing, data capturing, and archiving part of the system.
