Canada's export credit agency, Export Development Canada (EDC) offers innovative commercial solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. Using ACBS, a largely LANSA-based commercial lending and trading system, EDC serves 7,000 Canadian companies and their global customers. Using the LANSA Integrator, EDC has successfully delivered two SOAP web services integration solutions. EDC also uses LANSA to customize and extend ACBS to meet specific requirements. Adoption of LANSA Integrator has equipped EDC with smooth disbursement procedures involving multiple business areas. The streamlining of the process has eliminated the need to enter the disbursement twice and has greatly improved the timeliness of the delivery of information. Also, there is an improvement in the quality and efficiency of the delivery method of customer statements. Using LANSA Integrator, a SOAP web service is triggered with XML containing formatting and dispatching information resulting in customer-friendly documents. Following the same framework within Visual LANSA for client presentation as used by ACBS, the look and feel of EDC's extensions were replicated in the core ACBS application resulting in extended functionality. EDC has extended ACBS in the area of Bank-Borrower relationships and wants to move on the path of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with web services with new functionality, better integration and improved delivery mechanisms.
