Extreme Networks Aims To Migrate Oracle ERP To VMware Platform
Extreme Networks, Inc., of Santa Clara, Calif., designs, builds and installs high performance Ethernet networks that meet the toughest challenges in converged networking, virtualized data centers and cloud connectivity. They wanted to migrate its Oracle ERP system from Solaris to Linux, and from Solaris Zones to VMware virtualization. They choose VMware to overcome these challenges. The company had already adopted a virtualization-first policy. It launched its Oracle migration in a planned, phased approach, starting with ASCP. The results of deploying VMware were consolidation from three server rooms down to one, Reduction in space, energy, cooling and maintenance footprint, migrate legacy systems to desired new platform, virtualize mission-critical applications and success in test/dev environment leads to virtualization in production.
