Farmacias Yza is a drugstore chain in southeast Mexico, with stores in more than 20 cities across the Yucatan Peninsula. Selling more than 1,450,000 items a month, Farmacias Yza was struggling with the way it interacted with vendors. Purchasing took a long time because the company was buying the same products from different vendors depending on whose price was the lowest. Farmacias Yza needed a more accurate, integrated way of handing its purchasing processes. To master these problems Farmacias Yza deployed IBM. Farmacias Yza implemented an integrated retail information system and intelligent purchasing solution that automatically checks all vendors for the lowest prices on needed merchandise and orders the optimum amount of product based on the system's merchandising analytics.
