The customer, a statutory body set up by a government department in Europe, is responsible for looking after awards in education and training. As the business requirements changed, the customer modified and added processes and systems. Though this approach addressed the needs of the time, it created a chasm between various processes and applications. Due to absence of centralized repository and a nonintegrated architecture, the customer was unable to generate business intelligence statistics and reports. A high level enterprise-wide technology framework was initially created to set up the path for coming up with the solutions. The COTS solution consisted of customizing and implementing a Business Process Management (BPM) tool.
