This large government agency and its systems centers provide much of the tactical and non-tactical information management technology required by the U.S. Navy to complete its operations missions. Their one major concern was rogue devices. The IT team was unable to prevent users from connecting to the network because they could not manage at the port level. The architecture was hard to maintain, and people were connecting laptops to the network without their knowledge. These forward-looking LAN requirements led the Navy to choose Foundry Networks to support a critical IT function. A number of Foundry solutions were installed during a multi-year, multi-phase deployment. Like other government agencies, the network backbone must meet government requirements to support IPv6.
