Executive Summary

Founded over 40 years ago, the Japan Research Institute, Ltd. continues to develop in three business areas: Think Tank, Consulting Services and Systems Integration. When the Japan Research Institute was in need to reconstruct its mission critical servers, they had three criteria; Slim down of business operations, Strengthen internal controls, and to reduce risks. It was up to Fujitsu to propose a solution to meet those three requirements with its UNIX servers. To proceed with this project, JRI and Fujitsu formed a tight collaboration. Fujitsu proposed Fujitsu SPARC Enterprise M5000 for this project, and also provided support and validation tests for upgrading the system environment to Solaris 10. The customer was impressed that no hardware failures occurred during platform development, and was very pleased with the results.
