Georgian College wanted to improve the performance, availability, and scalability of the PeopleSoft Enterprise applications that are critical to the college's ability to serve its students, faculty, and staff and migrate from a legacy system that was expensive to maintain and struggled under the burden of high volume of transactions during student registration periods, resulting in downtime. The challenge was to support a broader effort to modernize the IT systems that serve the college's seven campuses. Georgian College deployed Oracle Database 11g with Real Application Clusters to create a four-node cluster running on industry-standard servers and Linux to improve performance and availability of the college's PeopleSoft Enterprise applications.
