TfL wanted a modernised ticketing system to reduce queues and fraud. TfL chose the TranSys consortium as its partner. Together, they formed PRESTIGE (Procurement of Revenue Services Ticketing Information Gates and Electronics), a multiyear approach to upgrading the entire TfL ticketing network. In year one, PRESTIGE delivered new electronic ticket machines on more than 8,500 buses. The paper also installed ticket gates at ungated Underground stations and select National Rail stations.
