Executive Summary

HDFC Bank is one of the largest private sector banks in India, with a customer base of over 15 million. Incorporated in August 1994, the bank currently has a nationwide network of 1,506 branches and 3,573 ATMs in 635 Indian towns and cities. While the existing setup served the bank well, it still had many flaws: it was not energy efficient, costly to maintain and despite its capabilities, servers were not optimally utilised. HP impressed HDFC Bank with its proposed solution of HP ProLiant BL460c Server Blades with VMware installed by HP Services for a seamless transition to a virtualised server environment. This was also supported by HP's 24x7 Hardware and Software Support Services to minimise downtime.
