The Kentucky Department of Education sought to upgrade the technology infrastructure in its schools by improving network bandwidth, lowering the ratio of students to computers and meeting its own standards for hardware. Eighty percent of Kentucky's school districts chose Dell OptiPlex 755 desktops, Dell Latitude D630 notebooks and Dell Latitude XT tablets. Dell also provided Avocent KVM switches, Dell servers for Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange, as well as Microsoft Office licenses.
