This case study talks about how Highlanders has been able to transform its business operations with the help of LANSA. High Liner Foods is based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is widely known as one of the largest marketers and processors of prepared and frozen pastas and seafood. High Liner Foods has been using LANSA's services since year 1989 and actively uses LANSA for its UCCnet, Windows, web, EDI-INT and iSeries extensions to JD Edwards World. The paper brings to light how LANSA helped High Liner to develop its virtual supply chain and enabled it to become an industry leader by transforming the way it did its business. Some of the challenges that LANSA helped them in overcoming are loss of 90% of its allowable quota post the collapse of east coast fishery in the nineties, excess paperwork resulting from information faxed regularly by suppliers, and regular data entry problems while trying to keep up with the challenge of manually entering all quantitative and qualitative data into the system. The paper details strategies adopted by LANSA and the IT Group of High Liner Foods to overcome all these challenges.
