Onze Lieve Vrouw Ziekenhuis (OLV) was constructing a brand new hospital building at its campus in Aalst, Belgium. Designed to deliver outpatient services to the local community, this building would feature 12 state-of-the-art digital operating theatres. From here, surgeons wanted to take advantage of the latest medical technologies, to broadcast high resolution videos and pictures of operations to colleagues. As a publicly funded initiative, finding the right supplier was critical. OLV needed to prove to its financiers that its chosen technology could meet a wide variety of technical requirements, for the right price and with the right levels of technical support. After putting out a comprehensive invitation to tender, Nortel proved to be the vendor that fulfilled all of those requirements.
