Acer Computer Australia (Acer), a regional division of Acer Computer, the world's fourth largest marketer of PC products, a network stoppage could be catastrophic. In the network's core, Acer relied on a single, legacy Cisco switch, which was a potential point of failure. Additionally, the switch lacked the capacity to support Acer's growth. Acer installed two 3Com Wireless LAN Managed Access Point 2750 systems in its meeting rooms, the first of many wireless devices it plans to deploy throughout its Sydney facilities. The versatile, standards-based platforms support 802.11a or b/g, so that employees can retrieve their messages and applications wherever they are situated, expediting communications and improving responsiveness to business needs
