Executive Summary

Wageningen UR wanted to centralise its technology infrastructure and create an efficient, cost-effective, reliable and flexible architecture via a continuous programme of infrastructure optimisation. Wageningen UR assessed the limitations of its three disparate infrastructures and conducted a transformation programme to centralise and consolidate its infrastructure into a single data centre. It virtualised its networking and server environments and introduced an HP BladeSystem with c-Class server blades as well as built a second data centre to provide disaster recovery, equipped with smart cooling techniques such as HP Modular Cooling System (MCS) racks.
