IBM Saves Millions With SOA and BPM Solutions

IBM faces the same challenges that many enterprises do when attempting to control costs and optimize operations. Key areas such as order fulfillment and manufacturing were driven by applications that were built with an older technology that is difficult to update. IBM ran critical areas of the company using technology implemented in multiple silos or applications that were inflexible due to point-to-point coding that was difficult and expensive to upgrade. IBM uses Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to drive efficient business processes throughout the company. New and upgraded applications can be enhanced on an ongoing basis as Business Process Management (BPM) initiatives discover areas that can be improved.
