Executive Summary

IGS Energy has been a leading natural gas provider to both commercial and residential customers. In evaluating cost-effective alternatives to standard PC infrastructure, they considered Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), where the desktop operating system runs on the server rather than on the desktop device. They need to reduce overall desktop IT costs, simplify administration and reduce power consumption. Mainline's virtual desktop solution consisted of 100 VMware View 4.0 licenses, 100 Wyse Thin Clients and Mainline Professional Services. The results of deploying Mainline were lowered TCO, reduced power needs, deployment time with easier management and greater security.
