Beset by a number of technical challenges, the Trust recognized that it needed to overhaul both its Web site and its intranet. With a static HTML Web site and an intranet that was both unsuitable and unsupported, updates were time-consuming and complex. Not only was the range and depth of information available online severely restricted and often out-of-date, but the system was unstable and frequently going down. The Trust had originally set up the intranet a number of years ago to host clinical policies and guidelines. However, although the organization used a content management server to develop the intranet, the system was difficult to use. The Trust turned to Oracle, implementing Oracle Universal Content Management.
