A key component of any online security program is the ability to electronically transmit information via encryption. By extending Liberty's in-house PKI to Verizon's globally trusted OmniRoot Certification Authority, the University can issue externally facing certificates. A third party validating these certificates will discern that Liberty's certificates are signed by Verizon and are therefore trustworthy.
